Holey Cheetah

Jane McCall

paper clay

Working with clay makes me happy and full of natural endorphins, so when confronted with the trials and social deprivation of the COVID-19 pandemic, I began working on a large cheetah sculpture. Cats, both domestic and large, have been my favorite animal since childhood. The cheetah spots are actually holes and while they could possibly represent the emptiness in our lives caused by the virus, when viewed from afar they are simply part of the cheetah's exterior appearance.
