My drawing, titled "My America", deals with the racial injustice that is going on in the United States today. The brutality and killings of African-American men and women, the blatant us of the "N" word, and the disregard for our existence has been an issue since our ancestors were brought here to be slaves. Now, it seems to be coming full circle with the police killings of innocent unarmed African-American men and women all over America. Our African-American youth are our hope for the future, but they are being targeted at an early age with prejudice and hate being thrown their way. As adults, we work twice as hard to get half of the credit we deserve, often being held back from our just due. Our flag is supposed to represent "Justice for all", but it simply means "Justice for some, and death to others". However, through it all, with God we manage to rise above all of the hatred and pain and turn the negative into something positive.
